This workshop is a relaxed roundtable discussion surrounding intersections of Afrocentricity, food, and health. Local food leaders will guide discussion on topics such as:

  • Accessibility & Affordability - specifically of healthy foods, cultural foods, ethical/sustainable foods

  • Food and food practices as a means of connection to ancestors and tradition

  • Sustainability

  • Health and the implications of different diets and food cultures

  • Economic systems involved 

  • Role of women in food production

  • Global food systems and networks, specifically between Africa and North America
